Prof. Noriyoshi Sato
Noriyoshi Sato was born in 1938 in Japan. He received Dr. degree from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1965. He worked at Tohoku University from 1965 - 2001. He was a Professor at Tohoku University from 1979 to 2001. He was a Guest Professor at University of Innsbruck, Austria in 1974-1975 and a Guest Collaborator at Riso National Laboratory, Denmark in 1975-1976. He often visited Max-Planck Institute (Garching) in Germany for promoting his collaboration there and was an International Advisory Board Member of International Micro-gravity Plasma Facility.
His first work was on external excitation of ion acoustic waves in plasmas. His works cover a wide range of experimental investigations on plasma physics and applications. Topics of his research were concerned with plasma waves and instabilities, plasma structure control and potential formation, negative-ion plasmas, fullerene plasmas, and fine-particle plasmas. The works have been extended to active plasma control for plasma applications.
He is a Professor Emeritus, Tohoku University. He is also one of the directors at ADTEC Plasma Technology Co., Ltd. and a technical adviser at Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc. and also at Toyo Advanced Technologies Co., Ltd. He is still enjoying plasma experiments using a small plasma chamber at home under various supports in Sendai, Japan.
